On Thursday, the campus celebrated the grand re-opening of Books ‘N Beans, the café across from Greenly Library. The event was kicked off with free Starbucks coffee as well as free samples of Core Power, a high protein milk shake.
The renovated Books ‘N Beans features more overall floor space by incorporating the “business end” of the café into the wall, allowing the other end of the room to be utilized by comfortable couches as well as computers (both PCs and Macs) for student use. In addition, the new Books ‘N Beans can better serve as an alternative to the Campus Center cafeteria due to its expanded selection of snacks and drinks, which now includes everything from sushi to soda.
At the grand opening I had the opportunity to speak with Karina Hill, a business management major who thought the renovation was a success. Hill stated that it seemed like a good place to relax after studying in the library, as well as acting as a good incentive for students to use the library, due to its proximity when compared to the Campus Center.
Aside from the ever-important free coffee, all in attendance received a coupon for 10% off your next purchase of $5 or more at Books ‘N Beans, and were given the opportunity to enter in a raffle for various prizes.
