My name is Olivia Butler, and I am the President of the Backstage Theatre Company. I would describe the Backstage Theatre Company as a big collective effort of extremely bright, talented, and hardworking students. Every member plays a niche role that all come together for amazing productions. We do our best to include all the arts, so besides producing plays, we host cabarets where we invite creative individuals to come and show off their skills; ranging from dancing, singing, to playing instruments. This club has faced various hardships, one of them being notably not having a physical theatre due to renovations on campus. However, each semester we have found a way to produce an environment that encourages students to pursue and thrive in performing arts. The club members often meet outside of events and support one another, whether that be giving each other rides home, or going out to dinner. It has been an honor as president to watch all the friendships develop, and to know that this group of people have trust in me. Every year, we look for more students to join no matter their experience level, so I’m hoping to meet more people this year!
