Have you always been interested in dancing but never got the chance to pursue your passion for it? Did you always have the desire to learn how to dance but never had anyone to teach you? If so, this is the perfect opportunity you have been waiting for!
People often ask me, what made me want to start my own dance club? The biggest thing that encouraged me to start my own dance club was the desire to express my love for dance and invite all those who are passionate about dancing. The art of dance has been my passion since childhood. Finally, at the age of 18, in my junior year of college, I got the opportunity to bring together all those who love dancing as much as I do. As the president of Desi Dhamaka, my motive is to connect all those who are passionate about dancing and give them an opportunity to express themselves through dancing just the way I do.
FSC Desi Dhamaka is a club that will help and encourage you to go above and beyond your
limits through the art of dance. We are here to support you and boost your self-esteem
throughout the entire process. In this club, each member is given opportunities to excel and advance their ability to dance. Opportunities may include but are not limited to performing a solo or duo, choreographing your own dance routine and being able to teach dance to fellow members. Furthermore, to become a member of this club, no experience is necessary!
One of the most common questions I get asked about Desi Dhamaka is what makes this club different from other dance clubs? First of all, we are multicultural. Desi Dhamaka is the first and the only multicultural dance club at Farmingdale State College which began in Fall 2019! Many of our members are from different countries of the world such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Spain, Argentina, Morocco and many more! Secondly, we are one of the most open-minded clubs on campus! If you have an idea or a proposal, we will be more than willing to hear it out and make it into reality. Lastly but most importantly, our club functions more like a family than a dance team! Throughout the semester, we plan several fun trips and dinners that brings us all closer together.
Desi Dhamaka originally started with about 13 members in the Fall of 2019. Our membership has increased at such a rapid rate that by the following semester, Spring of 2020, we have tripled the number of participants in this club. This trend makes us optimistic about the growth prospect for this club and its ability to unite people from different ethnicities and races.
This club can help you learn different types of dances from all over the world such as Salsa, Hip-Hop, belly dancing, and Bollywood dancing. Not only will you learn dancing in this club, but you will get an excellent opportunity to express yourself with confidence and have fun dancing!
Remember that we are not just a dance club, we are a family! We welcome you to join our multicultural Desi Dhamaka dance club! Take more chances, dance more dances!
