“Strange Face in The Multitude” by Luis Roman

Here is a poem written by Dale News Member, Luis Roman:

Strange Face in The Multitude

Sometimes I think back to the past and I think about the memories

and the people who I used to talk to and hang out with.

I think about all the times we spent together.

Thinking we were going to be there for one another.

Thinking we were going to live close to each other.

Thinking we were going to help each other out.

But now I see that everything changes.

No matter how close you are with someone there will come a time

when you are no longer friends, and even though

you might still live next to each other

you will no longer have those 2:00 am talks.

You will no longer say stupid things to make each other laugh.

You will no longer argue about the things you used to disagree about.

You will no longer call each other friends and

you will now be another strange face in the multitude for one another.

All the memories that you made together will just be memories.

They will be forgotten over time and maybe, just maybe, one of you

will remember those memories that got lost in time.

Maybe you will realize that the future holds stranger things

and because of that reason we have to live life

loving and enjoying our friends at the time.

In the future, they might just be another

strange face in the multitude…
