Liam Cullen blog post 3
Although I’m a Sophomore now, this is my first year as a resident.  I commuted to school last year for Freshman year before moving Upstate this past summer.  I’m glad I was able to get comfortable with the campus for one full year before moving into the dorms.  Living on campus can seem like a pretty big leap, but I’m here to tell you, that you will be able to manage.  This is the story of my first experience living on campus. I was incredibly nervous on Move-In Day 2016.  I remember it s...

How Study Abroad Changed My Life

Capture
This past summer, I got the privilege to study abroad in Barcelona, Spain for a month. I studied International Business and Cultural Management at their big international university, called IQS. There were 7 of us who had all come together from Farmingdale State College all the way to Barcelona. There were parties, personality clashes, fights, late night studying, everything you could think of when it comes to study abroad. I have to admit, at first, I was petrified. I did not want to leave my s...

Today as I write this blog, it is November 10, 2016. Which as most of you know is the Marine Corps birthday, so Happy Birthday Marines! 8 years ago today I was on a plane to great lakes Illinois to start my basic training. When we landed at O’Hare we were instructed to sing happy birthday for the Marine Corps. Which made me feel all tingly inside due to the Gunnery Sargent making the Marines in Full Metal Jacket do the same thing. So that is a cool memory that I will always have with me, as well...

The first time I realized I wanted to be a part of the Residence Hall Association was my freshman year during the FYRE program. The FYRE program is for first year resident students and during the program, you get to meet other freshman resident students and some transfers. You also get to meet some upperclassman; they were the ones who ran the program. They introduced themselves and told us how life on campus was. The program was a three day program (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and school on Monda...

From Non-Matriculated to Matriculated

When you receive your high school diploma at the end of your senior year, usually the plan is to go straight to college and follow through on those years for your next graduation. Similarly, that was the plan for me when I first graduated from college and for a while it seemed like that would always be the case. Life has a way of throwing you curveballs though; sometimes they’re things you can handle with grace and other times it’ll throw you off your game to where everything seems to go wrong. ...

What the Rambassador Program Has Done for Me

Aidan Reilly Blog
When I became a student at Farmingdale in the Fall of 2014, I was excited to start a new journey in my educational life. For my first semesters on campus, I still felt something was missing; I only came to campus for class and went straight home. Softball Trip to Florida

Capture3
On March 8th, 2016 every player on the Farmingdale State softball team woke up at around 4:30 am both tired and excited. Today was the day we were counting down for. Warm and sunny Florida was only a few hours away. I was very excited to go on my first softball tournament in Florida. The night before I made sure I had everything I needed for the trip. At 4:15 in the morning I woke up and got ready to leave, I checked that my softball sweatpants and t-shirt, to make sure that I looked decent. As ...
