In preparing for employment one of the most important pieces of the puzzle is the résumé.
The résumé and cover letter should be customized for the position and organization for which you seek employment.
While much of this is done on your own after doing research into the organization and position, a great first step is a stock résumé.
The student success center specializes in résumés. The process involves making an appointment and providing them with your past employment experiences and educ...

Working on your passion.
Today is February 11th, the day of the big reveal. I have been secretly and feverishly working on an iOS application since the beginning of the semester. After two long weeks, I have finally completed the app.
I’ve been wanting to make an iOS app for a while now and kept coming back to the idea. After speaking with a friend who is employed as a programmer, he advised me to just "dive in", so I did!

From Student to Employee
The transition from student to employee is a different experience for everyone, but we all hope to make it. I am in my last semester at Farmingdale State College before graduating. I am going to blog about my experience during this period of transition and my process over the next few weeks. The first step is something I started working on earlier in my college experience.
I will start this post by giving a definition

This means any food that needs time to prepare should be made now. Holiday pickles, jams and jellies can get started now and would give ample time to condition. The time is right, as time will become a scarce resource the closer to finals we get. If you wanted to make a holiday food n...

Apps for School
In a time when college is filled with smartphones, we need to learn how to get the best use out of them.
Keeping organized is important for college.
Apps like Evernote keep notebooks. Take a note, pick a notebook and save. Teacher writing too fast? Take a picture it will last longer. It will also remove the ambiguity of spell check and help with illegible notes. Be careful, too many pictures in Evernote fill up your free monthly limit of data transfer quickly.
Microsoft has an App called OneN...

The Semester Begins! There are things to do!
The Semester Begins! There are things to do!
As the semester begins I look around and see activities planned. Dorm students had a whole weekend to become acquainted to the dorm life and to meet new people. The student activities center has announced a number of opening activities.
Activities in themselves are a great way to meet new people. Introducing yourself to the person on the blanket next to you, at the outdoor movie, might be a great way to start a friendship. Teaching someone next to...
