Reach Higher! Become an Entrepreneur

How do you see yourself in 20 years from now?

ramsYour in college now, and I bet you’ve thought about where you’ll be in the next 5 – 10 years.

Maybe you have thought about having a good job, a nice car, being married and having children… and those are great goals, if that is what you want for your future. But, what if instead of working for someone else for 8 hours a day and getting a fixed salary, you start your own business and become your own boss? Sounds pretty GOOD, huh? But it is not that EASY!

In order to be successful, you need to think and act like entrepreneurs do! Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates and many others entrepreneurs did it and look at them now. As a business student at FSC I have learned many crucial tips from some of my professors and I wanted to share them with you guys…

1. DEFINE YOURSELF

Want to be an Entrepreneur? You will need to now what an entrepreneur is! Entrepreneurs are individuals who, rather than working as an employee, run a small business and assume all the risk and reward of a given business venture, idea, or good or service offered for sale. The entrepreneur is commonly seen as a business leader and innovator of new ideas and business processes.

2. THINK AS AN ENTREPRENEUR

Now that you know what it means the next step is to act like one!  Do not underestimate yourself saying things like: “I’m only a college student, I will have time to think about what I will do after I graduate”. These kinds of thoughts will keep you stuck …  You have to think as if you are building a house and you already have the construction materials. BUILD your mind as an entrepreneur!

3. SET GOALS

Did you know that writing down your short terms goals brings you one step forward to accomplishing them? Take a piece of paper and start to think about your GOALS and the person you want to become in a couple of years. Try to set reasonable goals, short term goals and long term goals. Remember that entrepreneurs are innovators but down to earth at the same time!

4. EDUCATE YOURSELF

As Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” So DON’T HESITATE to take entrepreneur courses! They have so much to offer and will teach you how to open up to new ideas and to take risks in the business world.

5. DON’T STOP

I had a professor that told me once “The first step is always easy.. the struggles begins when you have to keep it up!” Unfortunately, some people may start doing something different in their lives and may get tired or bored right away. DON’T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU. Do your best to keep up with the good work and always stay ahead, don’t ever think of looking back. Everyday find a motivation and you will see how that will become a way of life.
