The Greek Life Survival Guide Part I

Chapter One: Defining Greek Life As a member of Greek life for four years now, i felt like the best place to start when it comes to Greek life is defining all the terms that revolve around our lifestyle which we sometimes forget that non Greek members may not understand. The most important word that is thrown around a lot is Rush.  In the beginning of each semester, there are fliers, shirts, and images all around social media that say RUSH (insert organization here). Rush is the process where ...

Week 5!

Week 5 here in London! Normally during this time of year in America there are loads of Halloween decorations wherever you go. In London, there is barely anything! After speaking to many friends and some locals, they shared with me that Halloween is not a popular thing here at all. So what I am telling you is that on Halloween, I will not be able to go around to various houses to get free candy. I was told that if us American's do that, they normally houses won't answer the door, or call the cops...

It’s Time: Registration!

Well, that time of the semester has come. Personally, I love registering for classes! And also, I feel that I must make sure my schedule is perfect regarding classes, times, and professors. I'm happy to give you guys some tips on making perfect schedule. First, I'd recommend calling your department of study to schedule an appointment for advisement. You can also go to the Academic Advisement and Information Center (AAIC) in the lower level of Greenley Hall to get help making your schedule. S...

England in a day

My roommate and I did a day tour to the English countryside! First, we had to get to the bus station super early, because of first destination was Stonehenge! What amazes me most, is seeing and knowing these places in my mind, but to be there in person, is indescribable. Stonehenge is ever more spectacular because if you drive 2 hours outside of London on the main highway, you could pass it without even knowing! Stonehenge is located on the side of the highway, in the middle of pig farms, and op...

Week 4 – Settled down

Week 4 – Over ¼ of my time here in London has gone by, and it’s going quick! This week was a bit of a transition week, especially with classes starting and getting assignments. After months of being out of school, it is taking a lot to get used to this thing called homework. :)  It’s even trickier here because the teachers don’t check if you do your work, they just expect that you are constantly up to date with all the work and readings.   In between classes, I love to explore the surro...

Scotland

Wow, what an amazing weekend! It was quite a long bus ride about 9 ½ hours from London to Glasgow, Scotland. It was overnight, as we arrived to the bus terminal in Glasgow about 7am. We were expecting cafes and shops to be open where we could get a coffee before we headed to our accommodation but it was completely the opposite. A huge ghost town! We found a McDonalds that was open, (thank goodness for that!), and spent some time there before we spoke to some locals who said that nothing opens up...

FSC Fashion Photo-shoot

Good evening my dear readers! Today I thought that I should do something a little bit different. Today was my first fashion photo-shoot for my photography I class and boy, was it awesome. Not only is this my first time doing a shoot without my professor walking my class through the different shots and backgrounds but it was also my first time using my new DSLR camera! I had such a fun time working with my two group members as well as the four models that were assigned to pose for my group. So i...

My First October Weekend

babygirl
Hey there, welcome back! So how's my favorite reader today? Hope your weekend was enjoyable (minus the rainy Saturday). My weekend was just as busy as ever, Saturday was my dad's birthday so that in itself was busy but tons of fun. My dad is a huge Yankees and Giants fan so my mom, my sister and I all got him something sports related. My sister bought a Yankees coffee cup with the number 2 and a picture of Jeter on it. She gave it to him early in the morning so he could have his coffee in it. I...

A Night at Madison Square Garden

Hey Farmingdale! A reason that I love FSC is that it is so close to New York City. Since I’m a music-lover, I take full advantage of being so close to the city- there are concerts happening constantly. Since this summer, I’ve been looking forward to seeing an incredible show at Madison Square Garden- Bassnectar, Big Gigantic, and Rusko. This past Saturday, October the 4th, my suitemate and I conveniently hopped on the Farmingdale train, and anxiously anticipated the concert for just an hour ri...

Week 3, back to reality!

I finally feel that I have settled down, and am really getting to know this town! Classes officially started, and what a difference it is to be on a schedule! I am taking mostly business-focused classes with students who are juniors and seniors (called 2nd and 3rd years). So far the courses seem very interesting. I attend a lecture for each class then after the lecture we have a small break and go to our seminar.  In seminar, we discuss what we learned in the lecture, and work on our assignments...
