The Last Trip

It’s sad that my time is coming to an end here in Costa Rica! To take advantage of my last days here, I went to Uvita this weekend, a more laid back place than most of the others. The bus stopped many times for people and stopped in the middle of no where most of the time! We were a bit worried because we weren’t sure where our stop was exactly, so I clarified with someone sitting near me.

When we got there, it seemed like we were in the middle of no where! We found the hostel we were going to stay at- it had hammocks everywhere, a pool table, and a restaurant within it. We arrived around 5 so we took a walk to the nearby waterfalls. The walk was beautiful although uphill! When we got to the location, we took a walk down to the waterfalls. I saw a very huge frog as well! The water was beautiful and clear and we took a moment to relax after a long bus ride. One of the waterfalls had a natural slide which we slid down- so fun!

We went to get dinner afterwards- we had delicious “Tico Tacos” which are hard shelled tacos with choice of meat topped with cabbage and a drizzle of ketchup and mayonnaise. Ketchup and mayo are very common with fries in Costa Rica. After, we slept in order to wake up early for low tide.

We got a free ride to the beach with the hostel and the owner took us to the “free” entrance. We had to walk through a little but we made it to the beautiful beach filled with palm trees and mountains afar. There were barely any people, what paradise! We relaxed for the whole morning on the beach, got the 4 o’clock bus and made our way home. Unfortunately there was lots of traffic on the way back.

We finally got home and saw our Tica mom after not seeing her for two weeks. She went to Panama and was so kind to bring us back little gifts (a shirt, shorts, and a magnet). I am definitely going to spend as much time as I can with her for the last week I have here in Costa Rica.
