Why Get Involved With Greek Life?

Greek Life at Farmingdale State College is fairly new to campus. It has been around for a few years now and it is quickly growing. It is the best way to get involved and make tons of friends. With four fraternities and two sororities on campus, there is certainly something out there for everyone to join. Greek life isn’t about the socials, the mixers, the parties. It’s about a group of individuals coming together to give back to the community. These six wonderful organizations dedicate their time to various foundations such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Alzheimer’s Foundation, Children’s Cancer Foundation, Prevent Child Abuse America, and many more.

By joining Greek life, you are being welcomed into a family. A brotherhood or sisterhood is about joining something bigger than yourself. These family bonds not only bind you internally to your organization, but with the other organizations as well. All six Greek organizations have the same goal that unites them: service. These college years are said to be the best years of our lives. As young adults, we have such big ideas and hopes for the future. What better way to spend our time than to make those ideas reality? It only takes one person to have an idea, but many to make a difference. Fraternities and sororities turn words into action. So instead of going straight to and from class every day, take a moment to stop and talk to these student leaders and find out more about getting involved.
