Poas Volcano

Hey everyone!

Hopefully you are all surviving the end semester craziness (and coldness)!

I myself experienced being very cold here in Costa Rica yesterday. I went to visit the Poas Volcano with one of my Tico friends. It took us about two hours with two buses-not bad!

Unfortunately, it started raining on our way- it’s rainy season!

Poas is usually a little chillier than normal Costa Rican temperature, so with the rain it was even colder! (About 65 degrees, which to me was cold since I am so used to the 80 degree weather each day here).

We arrived at the ticket booth and I was luckily able to get the resident ticket since I had my university identification- I felt like a real resident! Tickets for foreigners are more expensive. My friend and I took a quick and brisk walk to the volcano crater- luckily it was a clear site and no clouds blocked the view. It was breathtaking! Then, we walked to the Laguna lookout. It was a tough choice because it said it would be a 60 minute walk and we needed to be back in time for the bus, but it only took 15 minutes. The view was beautiful as well!

Though it was cold and rainy, the trip was so worth it! And now I am more prepared to come back to the cold New York winter!

Until next time,

Laura
