Belgium and Luxembourg

This weekend I went to Belgium and a small country right next to it called Luxembourg. We took a 6 hour bus to Belgium from London, and got to take the underground tunnel from England to France which takes 35 minutes. After arriving to Belgium we walked to our hostel and headed straight for the Christmas markets. It got dark out by 3:30 so the lights were shining so beautifully by the time we arrived!

The streets were filled with loads of people from all over the world. There were stall after stall filled with amazing homemade Christmas ornaments, fresh mulled wine, chocolates and so much more! Of course we had a Belgian waffle with chocolate sauce, how can you not?! After our walk through the markets we headed to the town hall area where they put on the most amazing light show.

Over a thousand people were squished into one large open area to get a glimpse of the amazing show, it was incredible. The buildings were changing colors with the music, it was great.

The next morning we took a bus from Belgium to Luxembourg which was about 2.5 hours. Once we arrived there we got breakfast at a local cafe and explored part of the city. It wasn’t very big so we walked almost all of it. After exploring we went to the best hot chocolate place I have ever been to! It’s called The Chocolate House, they have over 30 flavors of hot coco that they serve to you on a wooden spoon with hot milk that you stir in yourself and it creates the ultimate, smooth, creamy hot chocolate goodness! We hung out there for a while because it was very cold outside. After we went to the Christmas markets around town and it was so cute! Not as many tourists as Belgium which I liked better because it was more locals. We again had some delicious traditional potato pancakes, and other incredible delights. Luxembourg was great, and really a beautiful town that made you feel very welcomed. I highly recommend going to both, especially during the holiday season as everyone is in high spirits!
