A Night at Madison Square Garden

Hey Farmingdale!

A reason that I love FSC is that it is so close to New York City. Since I’m a music-lover, I take full advantage of being so close to the city- there are concerts happening constantly. Since this summer, I’ve been looking forward to seeing an incredible show at Madison Square Garden- Bassnectar, Big Gigantic, and Rusko.

This past Saturday, October the 4th, my suitemate and I conveniently hopped on the Farmingdale train, and anxiously anticipated the concert for just an hour ride, and walked just 1 block to Madison Square Garden. Huge mobs of Bassnectar, Big Gigantic, and Rusko fans swarmed all around outside and inside Madison Square Garden and we knew it was going to be a night to remember.

For those of you who don’t know these artists, their sounds consist of dark and dirty, wild and “wubby,” melodic tunes that I would categorize as “electronic funk.” Their sounds are so matchless that I can’t even put a name to it- the show was even sold out and it was packed.

We got great seats (Section 211) and had the perfect view of the show. Everyone was out of their seats and dancing enthusiastically as the artists started to perform. Rusko was chill and dark dubstep getting the audience ready for the huge performances to come next. Big Gigantic had a jazzy feel to its electronic beats because there was a saxophone player and drummer; to me, this is pure genius. Bassnectar, the last performer, had the crowd wild as he started to DJ. The abstract visuals on the screens behind him corresponded perfectly with his solid beats. The music brought everyone together and not a single person was sitting in their seats!

After the show, we luckily made the Farmingdale train just on time, as swarms of Nectar, Rusko, and Big-G fans rushed to make the train. Though I’m sad that the concert is over, I get to look forward to seeing one of my favorite rock bands, Circa Survive, at Best Buy Theater on November 11th!

Until next time, f’dale music-lovers!
