In 2005, Gallup conducted a poll that asked students to name the school subject they considered to be the most difficult. Math came out to be the top. What makes math so difficult? Have you ever wondered?

For some students math comes easily, intuitively or automatically, for others it takes time and effort. But, hey, all you need is patience, concentration and staying power. Have a positive attitude, ask questions. If you do not know what questions to ask, try the problem out! Practice regularly, especially when it is an area that you find difficult.

  • Math is like building blocks, each concept is the foundation for the next block.
  • Master the basics: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and those first concepts.
  • Break each problem into small pieces, so when merged, one single solution is found.

The Mathematical Mind,  this myth is harmful. A number of people hate or fear math because they think of themselves as average individuals “not smart enough” or “not math and science types”.  Anyone can do well at math. Don’t fall behind and spend a good amount of time to build math skills.

I don’t need math, nearly all careers use math which is an integral part of living. Math is part of all subjects and it should be taught to right-brained artists as a creative subject as well. To live well we must all learn to think in a logical manner. Learning math enhances the capabilities of our minds.
