COLLEGE FACT:  Everyone wants to have a cool dorm!

From personal experience, decorating your dorm can be overwhelming as a new student. So, don’t wait until “move-in day” to think about what to do with the four blank walls and one thread bare mattress! It’s time to start thinking of how you are going to have the best room on the hall.

The first thing to do when decorating anything is to pick a theme or inspiration. After you select the theme you will need to narrow it down.  The theme will determine the colors and the elements you will include in your decoration.

It is important for you to know the space you will be decorating. The good news is that our dorms in Farmingdale are big enough to make you feel comfortable and they include the basic necessities (chest of drawers, night table, and a desk). Still, you need to check out the space before you buy anything so that you don’t waste your money on unnecessary items.

Now let’s get into decoration details!

At FSC, we are allowed to have wall art, meaning that you can hang up your favorite pictures and create a beautiful collage.	Door message boards are so cool. There are so many shapes and sizes. The funny thing about this is that some people will leave you funny messages on the board. NOTE: I had a little message board on my fridge and I was used to write messages like “back off, there’s no FOOD in here” or “What is inside is NOT your business”. LOL
Storage Boxes are MUST HAVE when you move-in! Some students usually place them under the bed, but if they are cute and match with your Deco, there’s no need to hide them 🙂	Want to be unique? Personalized pillows are just for you! They are classy and uncommon. This will be the perfect touch to make your room special.

TAKE NOTE: Currently, closet curtains are not allowed. So don’t break the policies! Also, the best thing to do is to come early the day you are schedule to move-in. The earlier you come to Farmingdale, the earlier you finish unpacking all your stuff.
