Sponsor a Wreath, Honor a Veteran
December 2, 2019
FSC’s Office of Alumni Engagement is “on a mission to remember, honor, and teach.” They’re doing that by encouraging members of the campus community to participate in Wreaths Across America, where you are encouraged to sponsor a wreath to be placed in honor of a veteran, to “ensure that their sacrifice is remembered and passed on to a new generation of Americans.”
You can honor those who served by sponsoring a wreath to be laid at a veteran’s grave site at Long Island National Cemetery. Sponsorship is only $15 per wreath, and you may sponsor as many as you like. You can also sign up to volunteer to lay the wreaths.
The wreaths will be laid on Saturday, 12/14. Sponsors and volunteers should meet at the Campus Center Lobby at 10 a.m., for coffee and refreshments. Shuttle service to the cemetery begins at 10:30 a.m., and will be available until 3 p.m. to take you back to FSC.
FSC’s Wreaths Across America event is part of a national movement that coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, and more than 1,600 other locations in all 50 states, at sea, and abroad.
The event is sponsored by 110 Sand Company, a sand and gravel supplier in Melville. Net proceeds will help support programs sponsored by FSC’s Office of Veterans Services.
