FSC Students Take Top Two Prizes at NYS CSTEP Conference

FSC students Bazit Bisiolu ’19 and Jose Nicasio ’18 – both Mechanical Engineering Technology majors – dominated the 25th Annual CSTEP Conference by taking home first- and second-place prizes, respectively.
Bisiolu – who performs astrophysics research with Dr. Edmund Douglass – plans to earn a professional engineering license after graduating. He aspires to work in the space industry.
Nicasio is targeting a PhD in Computational Fluid
Mechanics. He performs condensed matter physics research with Dr. Jack Simonson.
CSTEP is a New York State Education Department grant that has been on the Farmingdale campus since 1990. CSTEP works with historically underrepresented students to provide enrichment opportunities in STEM, including enhanced research opportunities in both Farmingdale and nationally recognized labs, STEM internships, academic assistance, graduate/professional school visits and admissions assistance, scholarships and tutoring.
