Team of Students, Alumni to Publish in Physics Journal
April 23, 2020
A team of three FSC students and two alumni have authored a paper to be published in the peer-reviewed journal, Physical Review Materials.
The paper, which you can read here, is titled: “Optimized in situ crystal growth and disordered quasi-one dimensional magnetism in Li2Mn2(MoO4)3″
The authors include:
Cristian Franco, a CSTEP student, is preparing applications for graduate school.
Bingying Xia has been accepted into a PhD program at Stony Brook University, with a full scholarship and stipend.
Alicia Baccarella is nearing completion of an MS in Physics at Queens College, and intends to pursue a PhD.
Francisco Burgos, a CSTEP student, will be doing a Senior Project with Dr. Jack Simonson’s research group.
Jose Nicasio, a former CSTEP student, recently completed an MS in Materials Design and Innovation and will pursue a PhD.
“I am grateful to work with my incredible Farmingdale student co-authors, whose individual scientific contributions made this project possible,” said Dr. Jack Simonson, assistant professor of physics. “We hope our continued work on disordered, one-dimensional magnets leads to new understandings of quantum phenomena in energy-related materials.”
The project is a part of the GENESIS Next GENeration Materials synthESIS Center, a U.S. Department of Energy/Office of Science- funded Energy Frontier Research Center.
