The New York Times Sponsoring a Writing Contest

The American Democracy Project (ADP) and The New York Times are sponsoring a student writing contest: “A More Perfect Union.”

In 750 words or less, describe how an article in The New York Times sparked your thinking about civic and political engagement.

The contest gives students the opportunity to speak about what civic engagement means to them. Contest winners will receive a $500 cash prize for the top entry, and $250 for the runner up. Your essay will be published in The New York Times’ Education section and on the ADP webpage.
