RAM Students Give Back Big Time
August 26, 2019
More than 30 RAM students scoured the LI community this summer, looking for opportunities to serve those in need. And they found plenty.
Students and RAM academic counselor Dylan Gafarian created a program called “RAMdom Acts of Service,” and then volunteered at organizations such as Coastal Stewards, The INN of Hempstead, MOMMA’s House, North Shore Soup Kitchen, and Farmingdale Village’s United Methodist Church soup kitchen. The students engaged in activities such as beach clean-up, multiple renovation projects, and helping out at soup kitchens.
“While on their summer break, these students came together to make a difference throughout Long Island,” says Gafarian. “Their volunteerism doesn’t stop there; several projects have already been planned for the fall semester!”
This was the RAM students’ second foray into giving back. Last spring they worked with Habitat for Humanity, helping build a house for a family in need.
