Greek Life is flourishing at FSC!

The proof is that Upsilon-Upsilon, campus chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon, has been named best of the 230 chapters in the U.S. and Canada. Quite an achievement. And there’s more. TKE member Rodolfo Chachon has been named a Top Teke by the national organization.

Says Lukas Miedreich, FSC’s Coordinator of Fraternity/Sorority Life and Campus Programming: “Our fraternities and sororities have positioned themselves as a staple of our campus culture.  Their members strive to provide students with a healthy and inclusive environment that fosters personal growth, commitment to the greater community, and an unparalleled leadership experience. This, in turn, attracts students seeking to better themselves, and produces students who set the standard among others in their lives after college.”

Fulvia Pepe, president of Greek Council, is equally proud of TKE’s accomplishments.

“The men of Tau Kappa Epsilon worked extremely hard for this success. Their success is a success for all Greek Life. By winning Top TKE they outshined every TKE chapter in the nation with their hard work and dedication. The TKE men are not only representing their organization, but Farmingdale. By receiving this accomplishment they are putting Farmingdale on the map. They competed against chapters double their size and schools triple our size. This is a true accomplishment for them.”

FSC’s TKE chapter won best in class by accomplishments such as raising $16,000 in philanthropy money. Six thousand of those dollars were raised when Upsilon-Upsilon donated more than 22,000 non-perishable items during Greek Week.

“All of our hard work paid off,” says Christopher Moustouka, new chapter president.

Rodolfo, who was a Top Teke Recruiter last year and FSC Fraternity Man of the Year two years running, is a sport management major and member of the soccer team. His award, he says, is not only for him, but for those around him and those who came before.

“To bring home the award, not just for our ‘actives,’ but for our alumni who started this chapter, is a heart-warming feeling.”

TKE was formed in 1899 at Illinois Wesleyan University. Its stated mission is to “aid men in their mental, moral, and social development for life.”
