Greeks Donate Truckloads of Food

Greek Week, which was capped off last week by the Can Castle competition, saw a record number of food items collected and donated – to the tune of six figures.

The INN, in Hempstead, a not-for-profit serving the hungry and homeless, is the beneficiary of 100,412 food items, such as bottled water/beverages, pasta, fruit snacks, mac and cheese, and other foods. Of that number, more than 39,000 were canned goods. Congratulations to Lukas Miedreich and to the fraternities and sororities responsible for these amazing numbers!

Here is the breakdown:

Most cans donated:
Fraternity: Alpha Sigma Phi
Sorority: Sigma Delta Tau

Most items donated overall:
Fraternity: Tau Kappa Epsilon
Sorority: Sigma Delta Tau

And the winners of the Can Castle design contest are Alpha Sigma Phi (fraternity) and Phi Sigma Sigma (sorority).
