Tesla Going All Out for FSC Students
October 30, 2017
Campus Times reported last month on the new
partnership between FSC and Tesla, the innovative electric car maker, in which students from the automotive technology department have a shot at internships at Tesla’s Long Island headquarters that would eventually lead to full-time jobs.
Now, Tesla has upped the ante with a recruitment push that opens the door to any and all FSC students who want to work for the company.
And students responded to the outreach, with more than 150 attending the event to learn more about the company, its cars, and its solar-energy and energy-storage products. The Tesla recruiters provided an upbeat, detailed overview of the company, and then told students what they’re looking for in interns and employees: : good attendance record, high GPA, mechanical ability, creativity, passion, team player, desire to learn.
Internships – both part-time and full-time – are paid. They will be available beginning spring 2018. A second recruiting event is being discussed.
President Nader’s comment at the first Tesla event still holds true: “Great jobs in automotive technology and sustainable transportation do exist on Long Island, but we need more of them. By offering our students internships that have a likelihood of leading to rewarding careers, Tesla is closing this loop.”
