October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month
October 2, 2017
This is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It’s the 10th year of the “Shine the Light on Domestic Violence” campaign, coordinated by the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence.
Each year organizations, communities and individuals across the state “go purple” – the color of domestic violence awareness – by lighting buildings, wearing purple and doing creative activities incorporating the color purple. SUNY has been a partner in the campaign, and FSC urges you to participate this month.
Each year one day in October – usually the third Thursday – is designated “Wear Purple Day,” in which all New Yorkers are asked to join the national effort to
raise awareness by wearing purple. This month “Wear Purple Day”
is Thursday, October 19.
Attend these events in the Domestic Violence Awareness Learning Series.
