FSC an “Achiever” in Clean Energy, Energy Conservation & Sustainability
May 15, 2017
Last fall, a NYS organization by the name of REV Campus Challenge invited FSC to participate in its efforts to promote clean energy on college campuses. FSC – with many programs that advance clean energy, sustainability, and conservation – joined the group.
Now, several months later, REV Campus Challenge – noting FSC’s efforts to implement clean energy projects and principles on campus, in the classroom and in surrounding communities – has upgraded the College from Participant to Achiever, in recognition of FSC’s significant successes in the field.
Says Marj Issapour, director of FSC’s Renewable Energy and Sustainability Center, “The REV Campus Challenge membership helps publicize our current achievements and training programs with regards to renewable energy and sustainability . It also provides programs and competitions that help us achieve our clean energy goals.”
Achievers are “members formally committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions either in an existing statewide or national campus energy challenge and have dedicated staff to focus on clean energy investments. They have a desire to engage with the external community to promote clean energy.”
The REV Campus Challenge promotes action in clean energy and sustainability across three areas of contribution:
- Investment in clean energy and greenhouse gas reductions
- Education and research into a range of clean energy concepts
- Engagement of both the campus and surrounding communities
Its goal is to engage the broad academic potential of New York State’s colleges and universities to help realize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s Reforming the Energy Vision (REV), a strategy to build a clean, resilient and affordable energy system for all New Yorkers.
