by Abbey-Rose Salvemini"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.farmingdale.edu\/sites\/the-dale\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2022\/02\/IMG_6879.jpg\" alt=\"IMG 6879\" width=\"299\" height=\"399\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There is a very strong stigma amongst teenagers that we are young and dumb so much so that pop singer Khalid, released a song called \u201cYoung Dumb &amp; Broke.\u201d\u00a0 The song bursted with popularity and I can certainly attest<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">to the lyrics being true.\u00a0 Although we teenagers would love to be autonomous<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">individuals, we are still living under the rules of our parents.\u00a0 Due to this longing for independence, we can evidently become refractory<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">children resisting the wishes of our parents.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For some of us, like myself, we are literally living underneath the same roof as our parents.\u00a0 This is where the infamous universal precedent comes in used by almost every parent at least once in their time: \u201cMy House, My Rules.\u201d\u00a0 The level of frustration in a teenager\u2019s mind could be almost unheard of whenever hearing those dreaded words.\u00a0 Most times, an extremely immature<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">response comes out of our mouths that immediately gets shut down.\u00a0 In my personal experience, I have heard that statement what seems like a myriad<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">of times, and I still don&#8217;t have an effective response yet.\u00a0 At that point, they win because there is unfortunately no way to challenge the universal rule and if you do, you&#8217;re wrong.\u00a0 It becomes a protracted<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">conversation so you might as well save yourself the frustration and let them win.\u00a0 After all, it is only just a super annoying way of attempting to keep us out of trouble.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Parents are hopeful that we avoid trouble whenever they cannot be there to direct us.\u00a0 It seems like my parents are constantly nettling<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">me about the same things before I step out of the house.\u00a0 The number one thing I hear is to drive slow, and tied for second would be to be careful, along with to not do anything stupid.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We are at a time in our lives where we are old enough to vote for president, enlist in the army, marry the love of our lives, but not old enough to consume alcohol.\u00a0 Now, how does that make any sense?\u00a0 No wonder why teenagers are left in a quandary<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">over their purpose in life.\u00a0 This observation will forever remain an enigma<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">to me.\u00a0 Being at the ripe age of eighteen there is so much hype over finally becoming an adult.\u00a0 For me, I simply do not see the excitement over being crowned with adulthood.\u00a0 In my mind, I am entirely a child who was just forced to make life changing decisions like where to attend college and what career path to pursue.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The days of malingering<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">our way out of school for the day are now over.\u00a0 No more annoying front desk ladies calling the house checking in to see why you are absent and no more work sent home with friends.\u00a0 It is the little things that you do not realize that were an experience amongst almost everyone.\u00a0 Now, as classmates grow up and further branch out into their own path they may or not still carry out those same childish acts.\u00a0 Except this time around, with being \u2018adults\u2019 we are able to make our own decisions and face our own consequences without that front desk lady calling your house wondering where you are that day.\u00a0 Now to really scare you, those pretend sick days could now cost you the emoluments<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">of your profession.\u00a0 The list goes on and on, but can we all agree on one thing?\u00a0 Let&#8217;s just stay kids forever.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>You can watch the music video <\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>for Khalid&#8217;s song, &#8220;Young Dumb &amp;
