An Open Letter from a College Student.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Dear Professors,<\/h4>\n

This is almost certainly not the first time you have heard this, but we are going through a difficult time right now. We are living through a pandemic, people are dying left and right, and the government seemed to be incredibly unprepared for this situation. It feels as if the world is falling apart even more day by day, and it is one hundred percent out of our control.<\/h4>\n

Look, I understand where you are coming from. As our professors and educators, you are taking a leadership role in continuing normalcy, but things are not normal. There is nothing we can do about that, there is a pandemic going on. People are waking up in fear and uncertainty. People are losing their jobs, and the ones who are essential (which a majority of college students are) have to continue working which puts themselves and their families at risk. People are dying, and the death count keeps getting higher and higher.<\/h4>\n

We are trapped inside our homes with no ending in sight. We have not seen our friends, our significant others. The economy is falling apart. We are grieving. We are depressed.<\/h4>\n

So I apologize for not handing in my paper. I apologize for not putting all my effort towards my education at the moment. I just cannot handle it. I need a break from the pressure of school. I will be taking that “Pass\/Fail” option you offered me, but I still fear that my grades will lean towards failing. I do not have the motivation to get out of bed, let alone go to your Zoom class. I have no option but to wait this out because our school did not offer a refund or a free withdrawal.<\/h4>\n

So I am stuck here, and I do not want to be. I am not receiving my education the way I wanted, and some of us are barely being educated.<\/h4>\n

I just cannot do this right now.<\/h4>\n
