{"id":9833,"date":"2017-04-04T04:27:40","date_gmt":"2017-04-04T08:27:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.farmingdale.edu\/sites\/campus-times\/?p=9833"},"modified":"2017-04-05T12:17:02","modified_gmt":"2017-04-05T16:17:02","slug":"9833","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.farmingdale.edu\/sites\/campus-times\/2017\/04\/04\/9833\/","title":{"rendered":"Inaugural Tree Planting"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>POSTPONED \u00a0as of 4\/5\/17<\/p>\n<p>Thursday, 4\/6, 11 a.m. \u00a0 Lawn in front of Horton Hall<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9840 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.farmingdale.edu\/sites\/campus-times\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/04\/planting-tree-300x212.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"212\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The campus community is invited to a tree planting ceremony to commemorate the inauguration of Farmingdale State College\u2019s ninth president, Dr. John S. Nader.<\/p>\n<p>Chair of the Urban Horticulture and Design Department, Dr. Jonathan Lehrer, has secured a donation of a Swamp White Oak.<\/p>\n<p>Under ideal conditions, the tree will grow to 60-75 feet tall and, according to Dr. Lehrer, \u00a0is the species utilized around the 9\/11 memorial in front of Horton Hall.<\/p>\n<p>The tree was donated by <a href=\"http:\/\/halfhollownursery.com\/\">Half Hollow Nursery<\/a> in Dix Hills through the efforts of Alan Rasweiler, \u201977.<\/p>\n<p>A commemorative plaque\u00a0has been affixed to a large campus rock so future generations will know of its origin.
