And everyone was celebrating.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_9443\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9443\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-9443 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.farmingdale.edu\/sites\/campus-times\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/03\/Brian-Varga-NG-and-Marj-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-9443\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Brian Varga, National Grid and Professor Marj Issapour<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The celebration was threefold: FSC&#8217;s Marj Issapour, Director of the RESC, was recognized for the outstanding work she did in developing the\u00a0Natural Gas Technician Certificate Program for energy provider National Grid &#8211; which was celebrating because the program graduated 12 students who are now employees at the company. The 12 were honored with certificates and proclamations from state and local elected officials.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_9444\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9444\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-9444 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.farmingdale.edu\/sites\/campus-times\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/03\/Nader-and-NG-graduate-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-9444\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">President Nader congratulates a graduate<\/p><\/div>\n<p>SUNY &#8211; represented by Chancellor Nancy Zimpher &#8211; was celebrating too, because the FSC curriculum will be rolled out at other SUNY schools and National Grid locations across the state.<\/p>\n<p>Two themes dominated the event, in remarks by President Nader, Chancellor Zimpher, and National Grid President Ken Daly: first, that the program is a perfect example of how creative applied learning initiatives can positively impact students, industry and the local economy; and second, that the FSC &#8211; National Grid partnership has created a new standard for partnerships between higher education and private industry.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was both a graduation party and a coming out party.
