It provides formal recognition that an organization meets or exceeds general expectations of quality in the field.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Accreditation sets a base line for policy and procedures that tell the public that the law enforcement agency exhibits professionalism,&#8221; says Chief Fischer. &#8220;Being in an academic environment, I understand the importance of accreditation and how programs need to meet established \u00a0standards.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>How Chief Fischer will fit this latest responsibility into his already-demanding schedule is anybody&#8217;s guess.\u00a0 He already serves on the Board of Governors of the New York State Association of Chiefs of Police; as President of the Chiefs of Police Association of Suffolk County; and Policy Board Chair of the State University Police Chiefs Association.<\/p>\n<p>It must be because he is a Farmingdale alumnus.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marvin Fischer, Chief of FSC&#8217;s University Police, has been named by Governor Andrew Cuomo to chair the NYS Law Enforcement Accreditation Council.
