It was “Lights, Camera, Action!” on campus last Friday, as Dr. John Nader – on his very first day on the job – spent two hours being interviewed and followed around campus by a reporter from the Verizon FIOS 1 news program, “My Long Island TV.”<\/p>\n

The theme of the segment was a sort of take-off on the classic Beatles’ song, “A Day in the Life,” from the Sgt. Pepper<\/em> album; i.e. “The First Day in the Life of John Nader as President.”<\/p>\n

The day started with Dr. Nader doing a 30-minute, one-on-one interview with Waldo Cabrera, producer and lead journalist of “My Long Island TV.”\u00a0 Dr. Nader deftly handled questions that ran the gamut from “How do you increase the college’s visibility on Long Island?” to a discussion on the soon-to-be-launched Master’s in Technology Management.<\/p>\n

Next was a whirlwind tour of campus buildings, with help from Karen Gelles at Greenley Library and Ken Tax at the School of Business.\u00a0 Classrooms were visited at each location, with stops at an ASAP remedial writing class and an EOP session.\u00a0 EOP students – not to mention the FSC staff in the room – got a big surprise when Cabrera came out from behind the camera to give a big plug to EOP.\u00a0 Members of his family had been through the program, he said, and he encouraged students to stick with their studies.<\/p>\n

By the way, if in the next week or two you see someone roaming around campus with a TV camera on his shoulder, that will be Cabrera shooting background footage.\u00a0 The segment has not yet been scheduled, but Campus Times<\/em> will have the scoop on when it will air.<\/p>\n
