His work in the revitalization of undergraduate curricula and the application of mathematical sciences throughout the curriculum earned him national recognition.\u00a0 Among his awards and honors were a SUNY Research and Scholarship Award and numerous grants from the National Science Foundation.\u00a0 He served on the Board of Governors of the Mathematical Association of America and was chair of the Metropolitan New York\u00a0 Section of the Association.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Winn retired from Farmingdale in 2011.\u00a0 He passed away in April of this\u00a0year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The late Dr. Jack Winn, who taught mathematics at FSC for more than three decades and was long-time chair of the department, has been elected to the Hall of Fame of the Long Island Mathematics Educators.\u00a0 Members of the Hall are recognized for their extraordinary contributions to mathematics education.
