{"id":5587,"date":"2016-06-27T09:12:40","date_gmt":"2016-06-27T13:12:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.farmingdale.edu\/sites\/campus-times\/?p=5587"},"modified":"2016-07-10T18:46:07","modified_gmt":"2016-07-10T22:46:07","slug":"farmingdale-always-rises-to-the-occasion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.farmingdale.edu\/sites\/campus-times\/2016\/06\/27\/farmingdale-always-rises-to-the-occasion\/","title":{"rendered":"Farmingdale Always Rises to Meet the Need"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5597 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.farmingdale.edu\/sites\/campus-times\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2016\/06\/Vigil.poster_o-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Vigil.poster_o\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/>When news of the tragic shootings in Orlando reached the campus, many were affected.\u00a0 But two people decided to do something: Audrey Krapf of Health and Wellness and Angela Jones of sociology. \u00a0With help from many, they organized a Candlelight Vigil with music, poetry, and healing words as well as a blood drive to meet the critical shortage of life-saving blood.<\/p>\n<p>Long Island Blood Center reports that 53 people tried to donate (including a 1983 alumnus of our mechanical engineering technology program), 42 were able to donate, resulting in 126 lives saved by FSC&#8217;s generosity.
