All are invited to learn about what various STEM careers are like for women. Celebrate International Women’s Day and the accomplishments of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).<\/p>\n

International Women’s Day (IWD) emerged in New York in the early 1900s, a result of labor movements. IWD was first observed on March 8, during the United Nations International Women\u2019s Year 1975. Two years later, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed March 8 as the UN Day for women\u2019s rights and world peace in December 1977. The UN theme for the IWD 2016 is Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality<\/strong>. Its focus will be on the implementation of sustainable goals and new commitments under UN Women\u2019s Step it Up initiative, on women\u2019s empowerment, gender equality and human rights.<\/p>\n
