Fourteen incoming freshman from LI high schools have been awarded $20,000 scholarships over their four years at FSC, thanks to a $1 million grant received last year from the National Science Foundation. Another sixteen students will be awarded scholarships for fall 2021.<\/p>\n

According to Dr. Kerry Lutz, associate professor of Biology, the
\nS-STEM grant provides scholarships for academically talented, low-income students in STEM fields.\u00a0 The students must major in Applied Mathematics or Biology.<\/p>\n

Scholarship money will be awarded to students regardless of any financial aid they receive from other sources. If a student’s tuition is covered by other aid, the $5,000 per-year NSF scholarship money may be used for transportation, meal plans, books, or other expenses.<\/p>\n
