You might say there were two 2020 editions of FSCNow<\/em>: one that was published, and one that was not.<\/p>\n

Just as the first version was going to the printer, the coronavirus pandemic hit. And if you are a regular reader of Campus Times<\/em>, you know that dozens of members of the FSC community ran to the battle line to fight the killer virus. And that’s what shaped the finished edition of FSCNow<\/em><\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Yes, as in previous issues, the magazine is filled with uplifting and informative articles about faculty, students, alumni, and programs. Take, for instance, one about Dr. Brian Kelly and his first-in-the-nation work in the classroom with police body cameras.<\/p>\n

Bioscience student Tonuza Ahmed is profiled, as she tells her story about coming to LI from Bangladesh in 2016 – hardly knowing a word of English.<\/p>\n

Then there’s alumnus Erik Pauze, the man you can thank for the iconic Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center each holiday season, and Professor Stevie Famulari, whose “seeded” artwork was displayed at the Smithsonian.<\/p>\n

Also read “Facts & Figures” and “Bragging Points,” which tell the College’s story in stats, awards, and accomplishments.<\/p>\n

Then there is the new cover story, which chronicles how various campus constituencies rose to the occasion to fight COVID-19. From a Human Resources staffer to Medical Laboratory Science students, alumni, and faculty; professors, adjuncts, and department chairs; an STS student and MET graduate – and dozens more, banding together to provide desperately needed help to front-line healthcare workers, and those suffering with the virus.<\/p>\n

The magazine microsite<\/a><\/strong> contains all the stories and visual elements of the magazine – plus exclusive videos. Given FSC’s commitment to sustainability, only a limited number of copies were printed, and distributed to administration, deans, chairs, donors, and legislators.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
