Ezra, former Dean of\u00a0 the School Engineering Technology, passed away in April at age 94 on April 26, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ezra also taught Mechanical Engineering Technology and worked as a civil and mechanical engineer across a broad variety of industries, including aerospace, science research, teaching, government, academia, and consulting.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ezra grew up in India as part of a Jewish community, before coming to the U.S. in his twenties. \u00a0He received a BS in Civil Engineering from University of Calcutta, MSE from University of Michigan, and PhD in Engineering Mechanics from Stanford University .<\/p>\n<p>He published a book, <em>Principles and Practices of Explosive Metalworking<\/em>, and held several patents including one &#8211; Surface Vehicle for Traversing Extremely Rugged Terrain &#8211; designed for exploring surfaces like that of the moon.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ezra loved solving problems, teaching, inventing, reading, playing tennis, and discussing current events with family and friends around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Read this <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.farmingdale.edu\/sites\/campus-times\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2020\/06\/Dr.-Arthur-Ezra-tribute.pdf\">tribute to Dr. Ezra<\/a><\/strong>, by his daughter, Ann Ezra Erickson.
