{"id":29792,"date":"2020-05-18T09:27:36","date_gmt":"2020-05-18T13:27:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.farmingdale.edu\/sites\/campus-times\/?p=29792"},"modified":"2020-05-18T09:58:32","modified_gmt":"2020-05-18T13:58:32","slug":"university-in-the-high-school-awarded-national-recognition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.farmingdale.edu\/sites\/campus-times\/2020\/05\/18\/university-in-the-high-school-awarded-national-recognition\/","title":{"rendered":"University in the High School Awarded National Recognition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>University in the High School &#8211; a program designed to help bridge the gap between high school and college-level study &#8211; has earned accreditation by the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) Accreditation Commission.<\/p>\n<p>University in the High School is designed for academically motivated high school juniors and seniors wanting to earn college credits. The credits, earned at their high school at reduced tuition, may then be used to pursue a degree at Farmingdale, or transferred to another institution.<\/p>\n<p>Courses from 19 departments in Farmingdale\u2019s four Schools are offered: Health Sciences, Business, Engineering Technology, and Arts &amp; Sciences.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFarmingdale State College is the first SUNY four-year institution to achieve this recognition,\u201d says Dr. Francine Federman, Assistant Dean, College High School Programs. <em>\u201c<\/em>We began in 1998 with one high school, and have grown to include partnerships with more than 125 high schools.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This could not have been achieved without the efforts of so many people \u2013 the entire UHS office, FSC chairs, faculty liaisons, and the Provost\u2019s Office working together with our many partners and stakeholders,&#8221;\u00a0 says Laura McMullin, Assistant Director, College High School Programs.<\/p>\n<p>The Chair of NACEP&#8217;s Accreditation Commission, Dr. Diana Johnson, says: &#8220;I&#8217;m pleased to recognize the Concurrent Enrollment Program at Farmingdale State College as one of a select group of 116 concurrent enrollment partnerships nationwide, accredited through NACEP&#8217;s extensive peer-review process.
