Author Bruce Goldfarb discusses his book, 18 Tiny Deaths: The Untold Story of Frances Glessner Lee and the Invention of Modern Forensics<\/em>.<\/p>\n

According to Goldfarb, everything we expect in a CSI-type crime scene investigation\u00a0 – whether in real life or popular culture – is due to Frances Glessner Lee. She is known as the creator of the Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death, which according to deathindiorama.com<\/em>, are “composite crime-scene models recreated on a one-inch to one-foot scale. They were purpose-built as police training tools to help crime scene investigators learn the art and science of detailed forensics-based detection.”<\/p>\n

Goldfarb’s book documents Lee’s role as reformer, educator, and activist, who is credited with transforming the archaic coroner system into a modern, science-based medical-examiner system of death investigation.<\/p>\n

The event is presented in five sessions:<\/p>\n

Session 1: 12:15 – 1:30 p.m.
\nSession 2: 1:40 – 2:55 p.m.
\nSession 3: 3:05 – 4:20 p.m.
\nSession 4: 4:30 – 5:45 p.m.
