Enrollment has been going up, and that means more faculty and staff offices. That, in turn, means more and more phone numbers are needed. So to keep pace with FSC’s growth, the College has acquired a large block of continuous numbers in the new Suffolk County 934 area code. The new area code is an overlay on the 631 area code.<\/p>\n
The 934 area code is now active and delivering calls to your phone. It has replaced the 631 area code. All campus phone numbers – including the 794 exchanges – have become 934-420-XXXX.<\/p>\n
For 420 exchanges, the last four digits of your extension remain the same.<\/p>\n
For 794 exchanges, the 6<\/strong> of the extension has been changed to 5<\/strong>, and the last three digits remain the same.<\/p>\n For those dialing the 631 area code, callers will receive a message explaining the new number, and be directed to dial the last four numbers to be transferred to their destination.<\/p>\n All callers to the old 631 number, whether from Nassau, Suffolk, or elsewhere, should now dial 934-420-X<\/strong>XXX to reach you.<\/p>\n For example:<\/p>\n Old Number<\/strong> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 New Number<\/strong><\/p>\n 631-420-2XXX\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 934-420-2<\/strong>XXX<\/p>\n 631-794-6XXX\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 934-420-5<\/strong>XXX<\/p>\n Anyone continuing to call the 631 area code will receive a recorded message that the number has changed. This reminder will continue into the summer months. A limited number of student services main lines (such as Campus Main, Admissions, UPD) will continue with both numbers. All others eventually will be retired.<\/p>\n Please inform your off-campus constituencies, business associates, and family members to use the 934 area code from now on. Reminders will continue this month in the Campus Times<\/em>, on the entrance signs, and via other venues used for messages.<\/p>\n All print materials, business cards, publications, correspondence, and e-mail signatures must now reflect the 934 area code. A new system to handle business-card orders is coming soon, so do not order business cards until the updated system is ready.<\/strong><\/p>\n Finally, please note that the change is for the Farmingdale campus only.
