{"id":27198,"date":"2019-11-18T10:11:25","date_gmt":"2019-11-18T15:11:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.farmingdale.edu\/sites\/campus-times\/?p=27198"},"modified":"2019-11-18T10:11:25","modified_gmt":"2019-11-18T15:11:25","slug":"academic-advising-team-shares-borrows-best-pratices-at-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.farmingdale.edu\/sites\/campus-times\/2019\/11\/18\/academic-advising-team-shares-borrows-best-pratices-at-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Academic Advising Team Shares, Borrows Best Pratices at Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Seven members of FSC&#8217;s Academic Advisement and Information Center (AAIC) recently attended the annual meeting of the <span class=\"ILfuVd NA6bn\">National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), in Louisville, Kentucky, to share and bring home best practices in the field.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>AAIC Director Dr. Alexander Caviedes was joined by advisors Lauren Bazhdari, Tracy Cleary, Danielle DeSantis, Navdip Hans, Tanya Maurer, and Margaret Pettit. The group networked and learned what&#8217;s happening in other advising communities, including successes achieved and challenges faced by their colleagues. Dr. Caviedes says AAIC advisors will now adopt practices best suited to FSC and its students.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Advising is increasingly being recognized as a powerful tool to assure that students are in the majors to which they are best suited, and that their course load leads to timely graduation.
