Codagenix, a synthetic-biology company commercializing a platform for vaccine development, is soon to be based on campus at BHBP as part of the state&#8217;s START-UP NY program.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from this grant, Codagenix has raised more than $4M in private and public support.\u00a0 The new grant, which is funneled through the LI Regional Economic Development Council, \u00a0funds capital expenditures in support of research into the development of numerous vaccines for diseases such as Influenza, RSV, and <em>E. Coli<\/em>. These funds seek to lay the groundwork for establishing a biotech innovation pipeline that runs from middle school through college.<\/p>\n<p>FSC biology Professor J. Robert Coleman, a Codagenix co-founder, said about the grant: \u201cThis is an exciting first step in establishing a public\/private consortium of innovation in the field of vaccine development. Codagenix is the prototype SUNY spin-out, start-up company. Codagenix is commercializing a SUNY technology and in doing so we are employing SUNY graduates.
