Friedman, assistant director of the RAM Program, and Eva Pearson, Program Director for the Social Science Research Institute, presented recently at the Long Island Women\u2019s Diversity Summit at SUNY Old Westbury.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Friedman&#8217;s workshop, \u201cChecking Our Sex\/Gender Assumptions,\u201d explored factual information, social assumptions about gender, common ideas\u00a0 about gender, and new facts about the not-so-binary (female vs. male) reality of gender. Pearson led a seminar titled \u201cHow People of Color Changed the Long Island Political Landscape in 2018.&#8221; The presentation addressed the collective efforts of people of color and their contributions to the large voter turnout of 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The Women\u2019s Diversity Network describes itself as an organization that &#8220;connects and mobilizes women of different backgrounds to create positive changes through a more unified sisterhood.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Erica J.
