Yes, and Here&#8217;s Why"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Erwin Cabrera, associate director of FSC&#8217;s First in the World Research Aligned Mentorship (RAM) Program, will speak on &#8220;Why Undergraduate Research Experience?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Undergraduate research is steadily being integrated into the academic experience across colleges and universities across the country. Companies and graduate schools are increasingly seeking undergraduate research as a requirement for employment or admission. According to the Council of Undergraduate Research, engaged forms of learning &#8211; including involvement in research &#8211; are transformational experiences for undergraduate students. The seminar will illuminate the importance of undergraduate research, and give attendees a crash course on how to find and apply to competitive opportunities nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Cabrera recently obtained a $300K NSF AGEP grant, FSC&#8217;s first institutional NSF grant. He places students in mentored research experiences on and off campus, in national laboratories, research universities, business accelerators, and other research venues.
