To the Campus:<\/span><\/p>\n

With winter approaching, this reminder on weather and other emergencies is for all faculty, students, and staff. <\/span><\/p>\n

In the event of a cancellation or delay of classes or activities, pertinent information and announcements are distributed in the following ways:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>\u25a0<\/span> Home page of the FSC website<\/a>
\n<\/strong><\/span>\u25a0<\/span> FSC\u2019s social media accounts: Facebook<\/span><\/strong><\/a> and Twitter<\/span><\/strong><\/a> for updates
\n<\/span>\u25a0<\/span> Electronic signs at campus entrances
\n<\/span>\u25a0<\/span> News media \u2014 especially local radio stations such as WALK (97.5 FM) and WKJY (98.3 FM), and TV stations such as FiOS 1 and News 12 Long Island<\/span><\/p>\n

Please do not call University Police for the status of classes or the campus. It is vital to keep the University Police phone lines available for true emergencies. Likewise, please do not call administrative departments or campus operators.<\/span><\/p>\n

Faculty\/Staff<\/span><\/strong>:<\/span><\/strong> If you have specific questions, contact your supervisor. Some offices also maintain phone chains; your department head will know if this additional communication channel is being used in your department.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students<\/span><\/strong>:<\/span><\/strong> If you have specific questions about rescheduling of exams or assignments, please contact your academic department or the dean\u2019s<\/span> office in your School.<\/span><\/p>\n

As weather events evolve and circumstances change, it is important to keep checking the website, news media, your email account, and other communication venues for updates. Even if classes are canceled, administrative and academic offices are customarily open, as only the Governor can order a complete closing of the campus. If offices are open, then staff who do not report to work must inform their supervisors and charge their accruals.<\/span><\/p>\n

Instructions to sign up For RAVE text alerts<\/span><\/u><\/p>\n

*Sign up for RAVE<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/b>, which distributes text messages on class cancellations or delays. To sign up, visit www.getrave.com<\/strong><\/a> and select Farmingdale State College. Use your Farmingdale user ID and password to enter the site. Follow the directions to enroll. Be sure to opt-in for text messaging and confirm your number.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, download the RAVEGuardian app <\/span>(for\u00a0iPhones<\/span><\/strong><\/a> or<\/span><\/strong> Androids<\/span><\/u><\/strong>)\u00a0\u00a0on your smartphone so you can communicate with University Police or 911 in\u00a0case\u00a0of an emergency.
