He began his career in higher education in the Office of Student Leadership and Involvement at St. Joseph&#8217;s College, his alma mater. Gafarian&#8217;s educational background includes a BA in Journalism and New Media from St. Joseph&#8217;s; an MS Ed in Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies from Hofstra; and a post MS Ed in Humanistic and Multicultural Education from SUNY New Paltz.<\/p>\n<p>Turbendian is an alumna of Farmingdale, where she earned a BS in Professional Communications. She won the SUNY Chancellor\u2019s Award for Student Excellence, and the UUP Eugene P. Link Undergraduate Scholarship, among other accolades.\u00a0She also attended Trinity College, Dublin, where she earned an MPhil in Popular Literature.<\/p>\n<p>Turbendian is a\u00a0first-generation American, born and raised on LI.
