{"id":17159,"date":"2018-04-13T14:23:41","date_gmt":"2018-04-13T18:23:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.farmingdale.edu\/sites\/campus-times\/?p=17159"},"modified":"2018-04-23T10:14:07","modified_gmt":"2018-04-23T14:14:07","slug":"five-receive-sunys-chancellor-award-for-student-excellence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.farmingdale.edu\/sites\/campus-times\/2018\/04\/13\/five-receive-sunys-chancellor-award-for-student-excellence\/","title":{"rendered":"Five Receive SUNY&#8217;s Chancellor Award for Student Excellence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Five FSC students have won the coveted Chancellor&#8217;s Award for Student Excellence.<\/p>\n<p>The Chancellor\u2019s Award for Student Excellence was created in 1997 to recognize students who have best demonstrated, and been recognized for, the integration of academic excellence with accomplishments in the areas of leadership, athletics, community service, creative and performing arts, campus involvement or career achievement.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s winners are:<\/p>\n<table style=\"line-height: 1.5;border: none !important;font-size: 16px\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"border: none;vertical-align: top;padding: 0;padding-top: 8px;padding-right: 28px\"><strong>Robert Adolfsen<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Mechanical Engineering Technology<br \/>\n<\/strong>Robert&#8217;s passion for engineering led him to FSC to pursue his associate\u2019s and bachelor\u2019s degrees in mechanical engineering technology. He earned the 2017 SUNY ACT Award for Student Excellence and the 2016 Farmingdale Orientation Leader of the Year Award. He is treasurer of the Student Nurse Association, and volunteers as a peer mentor. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She volunteers at flu clinics for senior citizens, and nutrition centers providing food to the community. He is vice president of the Golden Key Honor Society and senator for the Student Government Association. He completed his bachelor&#8217;s degree in mechanical engineering technology as the Fall 2017 valedictorian. He has pursued research in the fields of mechanical engineering and experimental condensed matter physics, where he has discovered two entirely new materials.
