\nalready heard about it.<\/p>\n
It’s the new Nexus Center for Applied Learning
\nand Career Development, officially opening for
\nbusiness off the lobby of Greenley Hall on Tuesday, 2\/27 at 11 a.m.<\/p>\n
Rena Varghese, Executive Director of the Nexus Center<\/a><\/strong>, describes it this way: connecting employers and other organizations to students and graduates for opportunities, including jobs and internships for academic credit, throughout all four Schools of the College.<\/p>\n The grand opening is just one part of a week-long series of events beginning Monday, 2\/26, with “Connect to Your Future,” a virtual launch<\/a><\/strong> of the Center featuring a campus-wide video alert. Other events include:<\/p>\n “Applied learning has been and will continue to be considered one of the strengths of FSC\u2019s academic programs,” said Dr. Laura Joseph, provost and vice president for academic affairs. “In 2019, we will take it a step further and make an applied learning experience a graduation requirement for all students.\u00a0 The Nexus Center plays a key role with this requirement and links applied learning with career development. Focusing on student success, the Nexus Center will provide support for students in their academic programs as well as their future endeavors.”<\/p>\n SUNY’s Director of Applied Learning, Dr. Elise Newkirk-Kotfila, noted the hard work by Associate Provost Allison Puff, and the strong support of President Nader and Dr. Joseph, in making the Nexus Center a reality.<\/p>\n “Farmingdale State College has been an exemplary applied learning initiative which other SUNY campuses draw from for inspiration. Thank you again to the College for its innovative leadership, profound business and industry partnerships, and commitment to ensuring all students have access to high-quality applied learning experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
\nNexus Center Ribbon Cutting (Greenley Hall Breezeway) <\/strong>Join President Nader for the grand opening, followed by refreshments and giveaways. Dr. Grace Wang, SUNY Provost and Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development, will attend.<\/li>\n
