That&#8217;s the amount FSC<br \/>\nhas contributed &#8211; in a number of ways <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-15249 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.farmingdale.edu\/sites\/campus-times\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/02\/Economic-Impact-Report-Cover-002-232x300.jpg\" alt=\"Economic-Impact-Report-Cover \" width=\"232\" height=\"300\" \/>&#8211; to the LI economy since 2009.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the good news found in &#8216;Solving the Brain Drain: The Regional Impact of Farmingdale State College,&#8217; an in-depth report prepared by the Long Island Association (LIA).<\/p>\n<p>In its exhaustive study the LIA investigated areas such as State&#8217;s return on money invested in the College; number of jobs created; the impact of Farmingdale&#8217;s emphasis on &#8220;Applied Learning&#8221; and the dramatic growth in enrollment during the nine-year time period covered by the report.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This study demonstrates that Farmingdale State College is a critical asset to the vitality of Long Island,&#8221; said President Nader. &#8220;Farmingdale is an engine of opportunity for its students and the region. The investments we make in our students clearly yield great returns. As the report&#8217;s title indicates, we are addressing the brain drain. Our students thrive here and contribute greatly to Long Island&#8217;s future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Among the highlights of the report:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Farmingdale returned five times in economic output for every dollar New York State invested in the college during this period.<\/li>\n<li>Farmingdale created more than 19,800 jobs in a broad array of local industries.<\/li>\n<li>Farmingdale directly influences the workforce needs of local businesses through its emphases on the applied sciences and technology.<\/li>\n<li>Farmingdale&#8217;s four Schools \u2013 Arts and Sciences, Engineering Technology, Health Sciences, and Business \u2013 enroll more than 9,600 undergraduate and graduate students.
