An SRO crowd looked on as more than 450 graduates in attendance received their diplomas (800 students were eligible), and 29 winners of the Student Award for Academic Excellence\u00a0 were recognized. Daniel H. Parks, a mechanical engineering technology student, gave the <span class=\"st\">valedictory<\/span> address.[ct_end_excerpt] This was the largest winter commencement in the College&#8217;s history<\/p>\n<p>Huntington Town Supervisor Chad Lupinacci, also an adjunct professor in the School of Business, gave the keynote address.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_14953\" style=\"width: 209px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14953\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-14953 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.farmingdale.edu\/sites\/campus-times\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/01\/Chad-A.-Lupinacci-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"Huntington Town Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-14953\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Huntington Town Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;You have worked hard for many years to reach this day,&#8221; he said to the graduating class, &#8220;and you sit here today filled with nervous energy. You are excited, and maybe a little scared, about what is to come. Scared is not necessarily a bad thing as you set out on the next phase of your life. Keep telling yourself change is good, because without some degree of change, you will not achieve your long-term goals.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In his welcoming remarks, President Nader pointed out that FSC is not the college it was when many of the graduates first enrolled. He talked about the three &#8220;R&#8217;s&#8221; &#8211; Renovation, Results and Recognition &#8211; in a review of the many things that have happened at FSC over the last five years.<\/p>\n<p>Among them are the new Conklin Hall and renovated library; enrollment that is the fastest growing in SUNY; partnerships with cutting-edge companies such as Tesla, Canon and D3; 98 new faculty members; the new Nexus Center; and the #9 ranking in <em>U.S. News &amp; World Reports&#8217; <\/em>2018 survey of public schools in the North.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Today&#8217;s graduates have grown, changed, improved and created a future for themselves, and the College has done so along with them.&#8221; So said President Nader at FSC&#8217;s 15th Annual Winter Commencement Exercises, held last Tuesday at Nold Athletic Complex.
